Adult Reconstruction Surgery Hip and Knee Replacement

Dr. O'Dowd is a fellowship trained orthopedic surgeon who specializes in the management of hip and knee arthritis. He has extensive training in knee replacement, hip replacement including the muscle sparing anterior approach, and revision surgery. He is committed to providing exceptional care for his patients that is based on the latest scientific evidence. He believes in using multiple strategies to reduce pain and increase mobility with surgery reserved as a last resort. When surgery is necessary, Dr. O'Dowd's focus is to use minimally invasive techniques, multimodal pain management, and precise surgical methods to accelerate his patients' recovery and return to mobility.

Dr. O'Dowd's medical training started at Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine where he graduated Magna Cum Laude and earned membership into the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society. He then completed a five year residency in orthopedic surgery at the University of Southern California where he received recognition in patient care and research. Dr. O'Dowd subsequently completed a fellowship in adult reconstructive surgery at the top ranked Houston Methodist Hospital at the Texas Medical Center. Dr. O'Dowd's surgical expertise includes robotic and computer assisted surgery, minimally invasive surgery, and management of failed hip and knee replacement. Dr. O'Dowd has published multiple studies and has presented work at the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgery. He, his wife and daughter are excited to join and serve the San Gabriel Valley community.
