COVID-19 (Coronavirus): Information & Update for Patients & Visitors

Dear patient,

We hope that this update finds you and your families doing well, staying safe, and staying healthy. As always, we are here and available to you.

We have now fully implemented our Telemedicine services. Our wonderful staff is ready to assist you in scheduling any appointment you may need to care for your orthopaedic related concerns. There has been a wonderful response from the scientific community regarding the treatment and prevention for Covid-19. We look forward to sharing these with you as the studies progress and are confirmed.

We understand that this time of social distancing and shelter in place order is challenging for everyone. We are all hoping to see a flattening of the curve with these efforts sooner than later. The science is clear, that staying home and minimizing contact with others helps to minimize the spread of Covid-19. Healthcare professionals are so appreciative of the effort each person is making to help slow the spread of this virus.

In this effort, the Mayor’s Office of Los Angeles and the CDC have released the recommendation that all people wear face covers while out in public. This is to ensure further protection from individuals who are infected with the virus but not showing any signs of the disease who can unknowingly spread Covid-19. Cloth masks are recommended as surgical masks and N95 masks should be reserved for medical providers and first responders. The safest way to wear any mask is to clean your hands prior to putting it on and not touching it at all until you are ready to remove it. You must then wash your hands before removing the mask and then again after you have removed it. The cloth mask should be washed in hot water to kill any potential viral particles.

The best way to prevent infection continues to be thorough hand washing for a minimum of 20 seconds with soap and water as described by the CDC. Continue to be diligent about cleaning high touch surfaces in your home, including door handles and knobs, the kitchen, and bathrooms. We are available to answer any questions you may have regarding symptoms of Covid-19 you think you may be experiencing, how best to protect yourself, and any other medical questions that may arise.

We look forward to talking with you soon and continuing to provide the best care possible to each one of you.

Yours Sincerely,
Physicians of Congress Orthopaedic Associates Inc.
